Did you miss us? We missed you! But even if you did miss us, here's a quick and dirty run down of what you missed!!

Zeta is expanding on a new business venture! A theme park!

In a real Tom Sawyer move, Paul got to listen to his own memorial, by the exceedingly talented MaybeTara!

If Paul can't go to the Family Feud, the Family Feud will go to Paul!!

If only we could figure out what we're supposed to be building... If only.

We return to the Littlest Variable, this time in half the time! Again!

More Keep Talking and Nobody Bricksplodes... This is fine.

Ever wondered how to teach your pet gazebo simple commands? Paul is here to help!!

Beej broke out his guitar, and played a few tunes! Included was the Desert Bus classic, When I Fall, by the Barenaked Ladies

We ran an art challenge for you all to make shift banners, and HOO BOY did you all deliver!

To quote Beej, "When you’re in prison , assert dominance."

And that's Zeta!! We're all going to sleep now... See you in our dreams!

Art Challenge: Make A Shift Banner!

Zeta banner hanging on a bookshelf, created by Cori

This year at Desert Bus, there has been much ado about the shift banners. Being swapped around, stolen, replaced with post-its, and even getting made at home. Hey! Making shift banners... That would make a heck of an art challenge!

We want to see your shift banner! It can be for Zeta, or any of the other shifts, including Omega! We're asking for a little more DIY, so actually hang it up on your wall, bookshelf, or especially patient pet, rather than just the art. It can be as complex or as basic as you'd like. In the spirit of Zeta, get weird with it!

This art contest will run until 5am PST. Please submit your entry in the form of .jpg, .gif, or .png to contest@desertbus.org, with the subject line “Shift Banner Challenge“. Please include which name you would like to be referred to on screen if you win!!!

But what do you win, you ask? You will win a Desert Bus 2022 t-shirt in the size of your choosing by Fangamer, as well as this year’s shiny gold DBloon!!

Night Watch Summary: Rhymes with Talk Edition

A cartoony orange television zooms out from a vortex of light and dark green. It's labeled "TeenTV." After a moment, the text "TV for Teens" takes over. Every element of the screen bounces and waves erratically throughout.

When you start the shift with a kickin' intro for the rad teens: Nice shock jock

When Graham announces he beat cancer: Nice block!

Graham dances in the co-pilot chair while red and blue lights flash.

When Ben trolls Matt three days in a row: Nice Ipanema o'clock

When you watch a bunch of short, funny videos all in a row: Nice TikTok

Ben holds up two bird puppets, one red and one blue. When they see each other, they begin to dance back and forth.

When Ian does a bit pretending to be Ken Burns: Nice doc

When you challenge the chat to use your face for clickbait thumbnails: Nice shock

Ian poses dramatically in front of a greenscreen: first shocked, then puzzled, then furious

When Julie sings a beautiful song: Nice vocs

When some kids get lost in Target and then take over the store and then form their own government and religion and then get the donation total over $400,000: nice got

Random Dance Party lights flash as Andrew dances, leaning back heavily and spinning his hands.

When you hand the stage to Zeta after a six hour shift: Ni(ght)ce Watch!

Cory and Ben rock out in the engineering room, ending their dance by pointing at each other in sync and laughing.

Oh, PubNub! Art Challenge: Clickbait us like one of your favorite Youtubers
November 14, 2022 at 07:49 PM PST
Posted by Soraya

Some people are destined for internet stardom, and all it takes is one good clickbait thumbnail to catapult them into the public discourse. On Nightwatch, we've spent years memeing and dreaming in anticipation of this moment when we step onto the stage. Our stage. And all we need is to exploit your time and effort to get us the recognition we deserve.

Take our faces from this greenscreen video (or download the set attached to the bottom of this post, OR pick your own shot from our voluminous collection of hi-larious japes) and turn them into the thumbnail for a reaction video about your favorite Desert Bus or Nightwatch antics. Make it good, make it splash, and most important: make it clickbait!

Send your masterpiece to us at contest@desertbus.org with the subject line "YouTube Thumbnails" before 11:07pm PT. Please include your name and pronouns (if you're comfortable sharing!) and make sure your submission is a JPG or PNG!

We're ready for our close up, Mr DeBus.
