We’re having a donation drive for some awesome rad pokemon buttons; donate $7.18 or multiples thereof until 2am.
But on to silent auctions! The following will be expiring at 2am:
Guardians of the North Stamp Collection
~
And the next few auctions are on until 6am:
Desert Bus Pushpin Madness
Fashionable Handmade Chocobo
Uncut X-Men Card Sheet
So bid, my monkeys! BID!
We have a unique donation drive going on right now until 12:45. For a donation of $7, you put in a vote for Matt going to the Gay Bar. For a donation of $6, you vote for Matt to choose another member of the Moonbase to take to the Gay Bar. And for $5, you just let us do whatever.
This year, Matt is unable to dance as vicariously due to a foot injury, so any Gay Bar antics will take place in the white spinny chair.
So donate, my pretties. And if any of you can photoshop the following GIF to include Matt’s face, send it to me at stuff@desertbus.org, because YES PLEASE.

What an exciting day it’s been.

We had an embarrassing story contest. Amanda won with a read-through-your-fingers tale of airport awkwardness.
Desert Bus friend, patron, and benefactor Dengler came by to give away some prizes, make some ridiculous bids, and lift our spirits with his trademark megawatt smile.
Our food delivery guy, Dylan, melted our hearts when he donated his entire week’s tips to the cause!

Four Moonbase couples participated in a round of Newlyweds Game!

Star Wars maven, author, and crafter extraordinaire Bonnie Burton called in!
Aaron Forsythe, Director of Magic: The Gathering R&D, Former Pro Tour player Skyped us too!
And last, but most certainly not least, Ken “Value Added” Steacy, dropped by and auctioned off a princely cache of goods that hauled in over $25,000 total.
What a great day!
Have you guys seen the superlative official DB7 poster, by Supernormal Step’s Michael Lunsford?
It looks something like this:
If you like what you see, head to the LoadingReadyRun store to get yourself a copy.
Is it time for another Donation Drive?
You bet it is!
It’s a MtG black Planeswalker box
A San Diego Comic Con exclusive, it features containing limited edition versions of Ajani, Jace, Chandra, Liliana, and Garruk in beautiful metallic black-on-black foil.
Hurry, you only have until 11:35pm! Get in donations of $19.10 or multiples!
We’ve even sweetened the pig to include a PAX exclusive set of Theros art postcards!

So Ken Steacy came by with a veritable King Solomon’s Mines of his incredible treasures.
His twelve sensational lots brought in a cool
$25,112.78
To write that in words, like I do on my rent cheques, that’s
Twenty-five thousand, one hundred twelve dollars
and seventy-eight cents
Not bad for a few hours’ work (plus thousands of hours of a true artisan labouring at his craft etc., etc., blah blah blah).
Thanks Ken, from everyone at Desert Bus for Hope! You’re our hero!
Aaron Forsythe will be calling into Desert Bus at 10:30pm PST on Thursday, November 21st.
Aaron Forsythe is the Director of Magic R&D for a small time card game called Magic: The Gathering. Maybe you’ve heard of it? Aaron began playing MTG in 1994 using a Revised deck given to him as a gift from his mother. By 1997 he had made appearances on the Magic Pro Tour as a member of Team CMU. At the 2000 US Nationals he took third place, ensuring him a place on team USA for the 2000 World Championships, at which they won the Team portion. Since then, Aaron has added two Pro Tour Top 8’s to his record and holds sixty-nine Pro Points.
In 2001, head MTG designer Mark Rosewater encouraged Aaron to apply for the position of editor of Wizards of the Coast new website: magicthegathering.com, The site launched with Aaron as editor in 2002. He then earned a spot on the Fifth Dawn design team, which earned him huge accolades from inside of Wizards’ ranks. His success led to his full-time inclusion on the Magic R&D team, with Aaron intertied the position of Head Developer and then Director of Magic R&D.
As a member of R&D over the past 10 years, Aaron has been involved in a ton of sets as both a designer and developer. His design credits include Magic 2010 through Magic 2013 and Planechase. As a developer, his work can be seen on many Magic releases including the original Ravnica block, Zendikar, and the upcoming Modern Masters set.
Have a question you are itching to ask Aaron? Post it in the comments below.
Penny Arcade celebrates 15 years this Nov. 18. Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik debuted the gaming-culture themed webcomic in 1998, and it has since brought us PAX, Penny Arcade TV and, of course, Child’s Play Charity for children’s hospitals. Through these and so many other awesome initiatives, Penny Arcade has turned gaming from a hobby subculture into a social movement.
The whole point of Desert Bus for Hope is to raise funds for the charity Penny Arcade founded, yet their contribution doesn’t end there. Every year, Penny Arcade continues to support and prolong the drive in new and exciting ways… for the children.
Thank you so much Penny Arcade for continuing to support the crazy adventure that is Desert Bus for Hope.
