Cameron has come up with a clever Creative Challenge for his shift, a combination of prose and art!
We’ve challenged the community to come up with some subtractive poetry. If you haven’t seen this before, it can be kind of like using word magnets to create something, except you’ll create it by picking out words from an existing work, sometimes with some artwork to connect the words together. And, for this challenge, you’ll need to make your creations from a page of Claude E. Shannon’s A Mathematical Theory of Communication, the founding work of information theory. Here’s a PDF copy of the original work hosted by the Harvard Mathematics Department.
You can send in an image or written text. If you’re creating an image, send your final creation as a PNG or JPG. For text entries, you can include your content in the email itself or attach as a TXT file. In either case, send your creations to contests@desertbus.org with the subject line “Thematic Communion“. Also please let us know what name we should use for you should we show your submission on-air. The winner of this challenge will win a Desert Bus 2018 t-shirt!
We’ll accept submissions until 10:00am PST.
